7/12/2016

I've made the shortlist for the Artist and Illustrators Magazine ‘Artist of the Year’ 2017, which was a bit of a surprise, it means the judges put me in the top 50 of 1000 entrants. You can vote for me in a public vote if you follow this link
The picture they chose is ‘Eyes Like Sparks’ which is part of a now demolished steel works in Sheerness, Kent. There's an exhibition of the shortlisted work in January  (23rd -28th) at the Mall Gallery in London.

Update on Jon Bird Open at the Fish Slab Gallery

26/10/2016

Update on the Fish Slab Gallery ‘Jon Bird Open Exhibition’, I won second prize for ‘IOU’, details on their website (worth a look as the picture that won, a small oil painting of Dungeness by Frances Chapman, is excellent, so much so that we thought about buying it!), I also got this badge which I am very pleased with!

National Open Art 2016

2/9/2016

I have had two drawings accepted for the National Open Art 2016 exhibition, this one is quite a big deal with a high powered ‘art world’ selection committee, I’ve never made it before despite regular attempts, I’m therefore both surprised and very pleased. The first exhibition is in Mercers Hall in the city part of London, it runs from 27th October to 4th November, its free entry. I will know more soon so I’ll let you know. One of the pictures is 'Footsteps', probably the drawing most personal to me, 'Footsteps' got to the last stage of judging in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2014, but didn't get in, so I'm delighted to get it into this.

Patchings Art Festival

10/6/2016

Picture
I have a picture in The Artist magazine's annual exhibition at Patchings Art Festival which is in Calverton, Nottinghamshire. This is a high quality show, I didn't make the cut last year, so I'm very pleased to have got in this year. The picture chosen was 'Go' (shown on the left) which surprised me a lot since I only entered it to make up the numbers! It's really difficult to tell what judges are going to pick up on! The festival is on this weekend, but the exhibition runs until 24th July.
