I am now an associate member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art. After having tried a few organisations of artists I think this is the one that suits me best, and fortunately I passed their selection process! I will take part in their annual open exhibition (if selected) as I have done in the past, and see how we go from there.
In their April-July edition, the Isle Magazine (for all things Thanet) featured an article on 'Current Thanet Landscape Artists', somehow I got included in this description, along with proper landscape artists like Darren Lewis, Anthony Giles and Karen Hiscock-Lawrence. The article starts on page 50, Im on page 53, the picture 'Silent Film Star' (see post below) is printed on page 106 in the calendar section. Here's the text -
I have a few pictures in a group show 'Emerging Art' at the New Kent Gallery here in Broadstairs, its on throughout January. This one, 'Silent Film Star' is fairly new, it's of Broadstairs too, it was an experiment using a paint roller to give a background colour to draw over, the picture ended up fine, but the roller didn't do what I hoped it would!
So for the 3rd year running Ive been chosen for the shortlist exhibition for Artist and Illustrators Magazine 'Artist of the Year'. 'Mono' is the picture selected, which unusually is the picture I would have chosen too! it's a house in Percy Road, Broadstairs. You can vote for my picture,(or any of the others shortlisted!) here.
My picture below (it's the one on the home page). Despite some truly tempestuous weather (mostly on Saturday), we had an great time at the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair at the weekend. Thank you to everyone that came to the stand and particularly to those that bought pictures. If anyone would still like to buy a print or an original drawing please feel free to get in touch, my email is info@patrickwilkinsartuk.com . Here's a picture of the stand just after set up.
After the good time I had at the last art fair I did at Sandown racecourse earlier this year, I'm doing another, this time at Windsor racecourse, organised (very well) by the same team. Private view is on Friday 9th evening 6-9pm, if you would like a free invite, just ask (email me at info@patrickwilkinsartuk.com). As you can see the organisers have very kindly used a picture of mine on the back of the Private View invite! That's 'Favourite Thing (Version 3)' in the corner, which was sold at Sandown. Further details of the fair below.
I have a few pictures in the 'Festival By The Sea' exhibition at the New Kent Gallery in Broadstairs, it starts on Tuesday 7th August for a couple of weeks to coincide with the Folk Week festival. Here's one of them, this is 'Vampires and Failures', which is another of my many pictures of Salem, Massachusetts, the blood red sky was an experiment, but I quite like how it turned out!
